The Swedish window producer Inwido is planning to shut down window production at its mill in Edsbyn, Sweden by 29 July 2012. Negotiations with the trade unions about the closure and a redundancy plan started on 12 March, according to Inwido. At total of 48 employees are affected by the closure. The production plant will be relocated to other sites within the group. The land and buildings are to be sold. From what Inwido-CEO Jonas Netterström says, demand for the basic windows, primarily for use in holiday cottages, that are made in Edsbyn has decreased significantly over the last few years. The company has been trying to utilise the location by partly changing the product range as well. However, the last remaining customer for the basic window type has discontinued his orders at the beginning of this year.
